Gordon Hospital Forms Alliance to Become Part of Great-West Healthcare’s Open Access Network

CALHOUN, Ga., August 2, 2005 – Gordon Hospital, a member of Adventist Health System the largest not-for-profit Protestant Health System in the world, and Great-West Healthcare are pleased to announce the signing of a new contract that adds Gordon Hospital to the Great-West Healthcare Open Access Network. The agreement became effective July 1, 2005.

“We are pleased with the expanded relationship that has been structured with Great-West,” says Carlene Jamerson, President and CEO of Gordon Hospital. “With this new arrangement, Great-West should be very competitive and able to offer a stable provider network in the Calhoun market.”

Great-West Healthcare’s Southeast Region President Steve White agrees. “We are very proud of the long-term relationship we have developed with Gordon Hospital,” says White. “We are already seeing positive results for existing customers such as Gordon County and for new customers such as The City of Calhoun due in large part to our partnership with Gordon Hospital.”

According to the Georgia Hospital Association, Gordon Hospital had a $116 million economic impact in Calhoun/Gordon County in 2002. In 2004, the hospital completed a $25 million expansion project adding 75,000 square feet of new space and renovating another 36,000 square feet. In 2005, building projects include adding a new family practice clinic building in nearby Fairmount, Georgia and building a new observation unit on the second floor of the hospital.
